Our vision is to contribute to the community by developing the talents of adults with Intellectual/Intellectual/developmental disabilities. We will create pathways to employment, life-long learning, and social inclusion.
A word from the executive director
I would like to personally welcome you to our Vocational, Transitional and Day Habilitation Program which promotes independence through real life experiences and life skills training. The staff and I recognize the inherent worth and dignity of each person involved, and we support the belief that each person deserves to live a rewarding and fulfilling life as possible.
As a certified educator with a Master’s in Education Administration, I have a special affinity for working with students young and old who have been identified as possessing learning deficits. Adult learners with special needs learn best in a safe/structured environment that will meet their needs. I favor instruction that requires active participation of all learners. I have a passion for working with adults with special needs because I believe these individuals can succeed by designing and modifying instruction to meet their transitional, vocational and behavioral needs.
18 and Beyond Special Services is a 501c3 charitable organization that provides vocational, transitional and employment services to special needs adults transitioning from a high school setting to an adult setting.
18 and Beyond Special Services proudly serves people with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The agency was founded based on the belief that with a better choice of services, positive behavioral approaches, and a respectful environment, individuals with disabilities could enhance their chances to have a better life.
Our goal is to teach our young adult students important self-determination and self-advocacy skills across four learning domains:
1. Education and Training
2. Employment
3. Community Orientation
4. Independent Living
We also specialize in vocational rehabilitation services, supportive employment, and day habilitation for special needs adults.
